Sunday School

…That they should make them know unto their children: That the generation to come might know them…that they might set their hope in God.  Psalms 78 5-7 are the key verses for The national Sunday School Department.  A statement was made many years ago that if we build up children we will not have to repair men.  The National Sunday School Department has a Mission Statement that reflects this: – We aim to build up children inside the church so that they can reach children outside the church!!!

For those working with children in our local churches, we aim to strengthen the local Sunday School Department by providing quality Sunday School Teacher Seminars, a  Sunday School Teacher Accreditation process, and providing mentors for teachers new teachers and those in remote areas.  We have a cycle of conducting Sunday Seminar in each region biannually.  In 2012 we held Seminars in NSW and Victoria.  In 2013 we are hoping to have seminars in WA, and Qld.

For our children, we aim to make our National Conference an exciting time. We have Childrens Services aimed at children being filled, and refilled with the Holy Ghost, with great Childrens Ministers from Australia and Overseas.  We also have a Bible Quizzing Tournament, and a children’s choir where children can participate in the services.

The National Sunday Committee is working to develop an Australian Apostolic Sunday School Curriculum, as well as a Bible Quizzing Programme that will encourage children to love and learn the Word of God.  Another programme that is very important and relevant part of the National Sunday School is Childrens Prayer – we want to create a culture of prayer in our children.

Finally, we ask that each of our local churches set aside the first Sunday of the month of September for the month for our Save Our Children Programme.  It is a great opportunity to showcase the Sunday School to the church, and for the local church to donate the offering to the National Sunday School Department.
